The Stanford Theatre

I have been a old-movie buff for a long time. Even in this age of DVD and surround sound I enjoy the experience of seeing things on the big screen with an audience that reponds to the action. Tha Stanford Theatre is the best place for this. Most of the audience loves movies as much as I do and David Packard is the biggest fan of all.

I don’t consider myself to have seen many classic movies until I have seen them at The Stanford. It is different on the big screen and is supieroir with a live audience. This is especially true of the silent films. Everyone needs to see (at least once) The General, or any other Buster Keaton, Charlie Chaplin, or Harold Lloyd films, with live accompaniment and a packed’house.

The best film I have seen at The Stanford however is Pather Panchali. It is part of the Apu Trilogy and I had to keep reminding myself to read the subtitles because I kept getting blown away by the photography.
