city of san josé

The City of San José doesn’t require much introduction. It’s a large city and I’ve been working with a couple departments, including the mayor’s office. Quite a different beast from non-profit work. It was kind of exciting to work on the materials for the State of the City for the 10th-largest city in the United States

As someone who works fast, I am well-suited to work on municipal jobs like these. Deadlines fly by and changes keep on coming. I’m just glad that I only do the design and do not have to interface any more with the printer than I do in sending files. Municipal jobs are like playing hotpotato and I’ve been very good at passing them along without dropping the ball.

selected projects

Two of the projects below are part of the 2006 State of the City Address. At first I was just working on the Invite and related collateral. Then, they decided they wanted to do sort of a Program/Annual Report booklet and hand it out at the event as well. The booklet was the hotpotato job—tight deadline, constant revisions, lots of content—oh, and it had to look good too.

The other project is a quick-turn, low-cost brochure for the Department of Transportation. Cheap and fast is what I do best.
