The annual report has to look nice as well as be readable and informative. The Hidden Villa annual report is also a brag-sheet where each program is given a couple pages to say what they have accomplished over the past year. My task was to do this but keep it from becoming too scrapbook-like.

Hidden Villa has two typical spot colors, PMS 561 (dark blue-green) and PMS 1535 (reddish brown). Neither of these colors works particularly well as a halftone and I didn’t like how the green looked as body-text either. So I chose to do a lot of multi-ink stuff because mixing the two colors produced a very dark and very neutral color—Not exactly black, but close enough.

The multi-ink stuff made the photos come out very nicely (web does not do them justice) because they appear to be greyscale images yet have the depth of a duotone.
