The trail guide was to be a giveaway piece—therefore as cheap as possible. In order to allow the piece to fit into a four-color workflow, I designed it as a two-color job using just Process Yellow and Process Black. This way I was able to get the price of a two-color setup without having to inconvenience a printer’s workflow.

From a design point of view, having the second color allowed me to punch up the pictures a little. Black halftones always look a little flat compared to duotones, even if the second color is Yellow.
