You should have read the rules to filling out your ballot and the possibly also the information about the Dad Guide before progressing to this page.

November 2000

Partisan Candidates

Easy, vote Democrat. Although Gore is ahead in California, I don’t think Nader is a good vote

Judges

Bernadini and Priest. Good records for good causes. I don’t like PORAC endorsements.

County Board of Education

Liederman. I know her personally, and the other candidate didn’t even bother to submit a statement

El Camino Hospital

Curatola, Bough. Both know the business, and Lee doesn’t strike me as having a broad enough perspective. Of course, the others don’t count since they don’t have statements.

Open Space

Your old jr. high teacher Jed Cyr is the best choice. The others are clueless.

Local Measures

yesA

Yes. BART, light rail, CalTrain. All transit. This is good. Mayor’s big push.

yesB

Yes. flood control bonds. We need them, even though the Water District is not entirely competent.

noS

Sunnyvale Fluoridation.
Your call. Crackpots oppose it, but for the wrong reasons. The argument for sounds reasonable, but misses the point. I’ll vote no, but not with enthusiasm. Should the water supply be used as an inefficient delivery system for a prescription dietary supplement?

Propositions

no32

No.I always vote no on Vet bonds, figuring why should they get the benefit of affordable housing when so many others need it.

yes33

This corrects a little bit of the excess from aprevious measure a few years ago that should not have passed that put in legislative term limits and other nonsense that guaranteed mediocrity in the State Legislature (we love the initative process!)

no34

No. Trojan horse campaign reform. Would cancel earlier better reforms.

yes35

Yes. Breaks up closed shop and inefficiencies in state contracting services. Nothing new for most local governments, but big controversy among entrenched bureaucrats.

yes36

Yes. Drug decriminalization. Sounds good to me, tho’ it won’t pass. Law ’n order folks going nuts on this.

no37

NO NO. Stupid anti-environment libertarian bullshit that increases barriers to reasonable regulation.

no38

NO NO. School vouchers. Stupid anti-schools measures that redistributes wealth to the wealthy while shortchanging public schools.

yes39

Yes. Reduces requirements for schools to get bonds passed. A tiny correction to stupid Prop 13 22 years ago that screwed up schools in the first place.

There you have it, the concise international edition of the Dad’s Guide.
